I have a friend who shared a story with me about his small group and how they put feet to mercy that I thought I would pass along
Sunday evening at community group, I witnessed immediate faithful action like I have never seen before. After hearing Mickey’s message on mercy, coupled with Debbie Rambo’s practical discussion and Chloe’s ministry that morning, Mike Nefzger bought 20 each of the following items: toothbrushes, toothpaste, water bottles, hand wipes, granola bars and peanut butter crackers (items that would not melt).
At community group that night we formed an assembly line and in less than 5 minutes we made 20 bags. In addition, Mike had a small piece of paper made up with the contact information for Samaritan House and LifeSource that we stapled to the outside of the bag.
After our meeting every person took a bag and put it in their car so that they would be prepared to show mercy to someone in need.
I have occasionally reacted to a situation that was discussed on Sunday but more times than not, I have “been too busy” to show mercy. I’m certainly thankful that God isn’t too busy to show me undeserved mercy and grace!
Thanks to Mike, I am now prepared. And, if God gives me the opportunity to share this bag, I will stay prepared by making another one.
This seems to be a very easy and practical step for all Christians. If this idea gets out to our world-wide body of believers, I think we will be more mindful, strategic and merciful to those in need because we will be prepared and on the look-out.
It’s amazing how God can use one faithful man who puts The Word into Action.
Please share with Mickey and Debbie and thank them for their faithfulness.
