Ever Been at Fault in a Wreck?

20110923-081609.jpgHave you ever heard the sickening thud of having a wreck with your car? This morning was my first experience. The only thing worse than having a wreck is having a wreck with your second vehicle. The only thing that make it worse than that is having a wreck with your second vehicle because you are fussing at your child because of his bad attitude. Talk about adding insult to injury. Fortunately, I was just backing down the driveway in the Bug and didn’t have much speed when I was accosted by my Chevrolet Silverado and just scrapped the Bug. Now I know that my little fender bender is nothing compared to major accidents that many people experience but, it got me to thinking about how much damage is done in families by family members crashing into one another. Around my house I am the big truck causing damage to VWs. There are things that we say to our family that if anyone else said or did that we would be ready to fight, kill or maim them. Why do we keep running into one another? You know they say that most wrecks occur within a 5 mile radius of your own house.   Most family issues occur in the same radius. Maybe we just need to watch where we are going as we are backing down the driveway of our families lives.

So many times in our lives we have accidents. But those; little run ins; can cause damage. Not; a ment to be; but it still can hurt. In 1 Peter 2:21-24 we
    read:

    1 Peter 2:21-24(NRSV)
21For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps.
22 “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”
23When he was abused, he did not return abuse; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly.
24He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross,£ so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds£ you have been healed.

We are to follow in His footsteps; abuse is not returned; when He suffered,
He did not threaten. In all circumstances He entrusted Himself to the One
who judges justly. Let us not run ahead but allow Him to lead us. We may have our little accidents from time to time, but I’m sorry right then should be said. Remember:
24He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; for by his wounds you have been healed.
