Running Hard After Jesus

I love the story of how John outran Peter to the tomb (John 20:4).  Even in the Bible we see the young buck (John) talking a little smack.  The disciples had just heard from Mary Magdalen that Jesus had gone missing and Peter had to see it for himself.  The same Peter who had denied Jesus a couple of days before and would later die a martyr’s death is a great study in running hard after Jesus.  He may not have been the fastest (some clock him at a smooth 5.2 in the 40), but he was the most passionate.  John may have been one who Jesus loved (at least the way he told the story).. but it is clear (to me) that Peter was the disciple who loved Jesus the most.  John may have outrun Peter to the tomb but nobody beats Peter in running hard after the Master.  We could learn a lot from Peter in that regard.
