You may not realize it but a great man, just passed away. Dr. Ralph winter is a modern day missions hero. I got a chance to hear him speak at a missions conference when I was a very young Christian. That has been over 20 years ago. Much of what I know about the World Christian Movement sources from Dr. Winter and men and women he has impacted. One of my mentors wrote this tribute to him related to his passing that I wanted to share with you.
Steve Shadrach sent a message to the members of Perspectives on the World Christian Movement.

Subject: Dr. Ralph Winter passes into eternity last night
Founder of the U.S. Center for World Mission, Developer of the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement study program, and my boss and friend, 84 yr old Ralph Winter went to be with the Lord at his home in Pasadena, California. I am thankful I was there and got to be with him during some of his final hours. He was suffering greatly with his cancer and was finally set free from his pain at 9:05 pm (PST) last night May 20th. As family and friends continued to pour into the room to pay their respects, the hospice worker there was amazed and finally asked: “Who IS this man?” I thought to myself, “If the world only knew what kind of contribution this man has made.” A modern day William Carey and Hudson Taylor, he lived his entire life, and even to his final breath, to bring the gospel of Jesus and the Kingdom of God to every last people group on the planet. Please join me in praising God for his life, for praying for his wife Barb and his four daughters, and asking God to use all of us, his disciples, to carry out and complete the vision of world evangelization. Also, pray for Dave Datema, the new General Director whom Dr. Winter chose to succeed him. Dave is a great man with a heart for God. Thanks.
We are going to miss him. Even if you never knew him! Check out his story!
