I have to admit that the older I get the more I tap into the spirit of TGIF (Thank God It’s Friday). I really enjoy the weekends. When I was younger, I was a little more driven work wise and now I am becoming a bit more of a homebody. Don’t break the rocking chair out yet. But, I do really enjoy the weekends with my family and we usually have some kind of fun activity planned even if that means just hanging out at the house.
This morning I was chatting with my son about Good Friday. I asked him if he knew about Good Friday. As most kids in a Christian home are he was cognizant of the fact that Good Friday is a remembrance of the day when Jesus died on the cross. But, what is so GOOD about that? As we chatted further we discussed the reality that Jesus’ death on the cross is good because His death on the cross pays for our sin. Sin is our disobedience of God’s law that He cannot ignore. The penalty for that sin is death and we can either take on that penalty or we can let Jesus pay that price for us. Not being a big fan of punishment we concluded that allowing Jesus to pay for our sin was a pretty good deal. TGIGF! Thank God for Good Friday!
