What Does God Want to Do to You?

Is 30:18- Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.  For the Lord is a God of justice.  How blessed are all those who long for Him.

My study in Isaiah continues to yield some choice fruit.  I have been interested to see how many different judgments are being meted out to not only the nation of Israel but also to the surrounding nations.  Isaiah seems to be a prophet who God uses to lay out his plan of justice to many nations.

In the midst of all this judgment is a tremendous calm. Namely God longs (waits) to be gracious to them.  God wants to have compassion on them (at least all those who long for Him.)  Because of His justice he judges the nations.  Because of His love He longs to have compassion.  Because of His great kindness they are not destroyed.  Much the same emotions a father has on wayward child.  He must judge the act and hand out consequences for bad behavior.  Yet the loving father longs for the day of restoration, compassion and graciousness where he sets himself in right relation with his child.

It is great to see the Father-Heart of God in this passage.  What does He want to do to you?  Just love you like any good dad would do!
